The previously reported revival of Garson Kanin's Born Yesterday, starring Jim Belushi and Nina Arianda, has booked the Cort Theatre. The production will begin performances March 31 with opening night set for April 24. Tony winner Doug Hughes will direct.
Belushi, who is currently starring on TV's The Defenders and is best known for the comedy series According to Jim, will play corrupt business man Harry Brock. Arianda, who received rave reviews and the Clarence Derwent Award for her performance in the Class Stage Company’s production of Venus in Fur, will play ditzy mistress Billie Dawn .
Born Yesterday originally opened on February 4, 1946, with a cast that included Judy Holliday, Paul Douglas as Harry Brock and Gary Merrill as Paul Verrall, who becomes Billie’s confidante. The play ran for 1,642 performances and was adapted into a 1950 film that won Holliday a Best Actress Oscar opposite Broderick Crawford as Harry and William Holden as Paul. A 1989 Broadway revival starred Madeline Kahn, Ed Asner and Daniel Hugh Kelly.
Additional casting and creative team for the revival will be announced at a later date.
